These Fans Dispute Merson’s Claim That Forest Are Taking ‘Big Gamble’

In previewing our game with Wigan, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson claimed that the club’s decision to invest heavily in the transfer market is a big risk.

With Sam Byram joining on loan from West Ham last week, it means we have recruited 13 players during this transfer window, and Merson is not sure if the investment will pay dividends:

“Forest are having a big gamble, I fear, they’re going to get up. They rested 11 players in midweek and I think this will be a real good game and it’ll be a hard game for Forest.”

Whether the Wigan draw will make anyone re-assess their conclusion about the transfer business done, I’m not sure. Aitor Karanka has a big job on his hands bedding in a number of new players in a short space of time.

We haven’t lost so far this campaign but the last-gasp draw against the Latics on Saturday will be a wakeup call. There are no easy games in the Championship and despite our major investment, it’s clear getting out of this division will be no cakewalk.
