“There’s A Spot Open For Him…Would Dearly Like Him” – O’Neill Wants This Man To Join Forest

|

With new Nottingham Forest manager Martin O’Neill preparing diligently for his first time in the dugout as we face Bristol City this weekend, he has now confirmed that he wants Roy Keane to join him at the club.

Meeting with the media yesterday to discuss the upcoming game, his appointment obviously featured heavily in the questioning and he confirmed that Forest had been an option for him previously, but he felt the ‘time’ wasn’t quite right but now it suits perfectly. He also admitted the chance may not have come again for him, so the aim is to try and restore us to the Premier League and gain promotion given a nod to his own history with us as a player.

Speaking to the BBC former Republic of Ireland assistant gaffer Keane was spoken about and O’Neill confirmed the offer was there for him to join his backroom staff once again.

“I would dearly like him to join, but as it happened very quickly he has a number to things to sort out. We have had some discussions and I would like him to join. There is a spot open for him. It may happen but he has number of things to consider personally and professionally. He was a great asset to me as assistant manager at the Republic of Ireland. He is tough to handle, no doubt, but that’s what makes him special. He was a special player and you don’t win things at Manchester United by just sitting round.”

Sounds like it’s only a matter of time really.
