There Are More Important Things Than Football

Most of us would probably admit that we take the beautiful game far too seriously and that if we took a step back and thought for a moment, we’d realise that there’s a whole other world out there that doesn’t revolve around football.

Billy Davies certainly found that out this week, after missing the vital FA Cup game with arch rivals Derby. Whilst his side were battling it out in the 1-1 draw with the Rams, Davies was at his Sons’ bedside in a Glasgow hospital. His Son had undergone major kidney surgery that day and Davies was given compassionate leave to be with him.

Davies told the Scottish Sunday Mail, ‘Some things are more important than football. With my son on the operating table, there was no way I’d be at that game. Thankfully he’s stable now.’

I’m sure we all wish Billy and his Son well and hope for a speedy recovery. It’s a stark reminder for us all, that there really are more important things in life.
