The Sven Show Will Hopefully Gloss Over Defeat

Forest suffered a slight bloody nose this afternoon at Meadow Lane, by losing 2-1 to neighbours Notts County in a pre season friendly.

Nothing should ever be taken too seriously in these games, but it’s never nice to lose to your rivals, especially when they live next door. That said, although it is a minor embarrassment to lose to our lowly neighbours, the fact that it was the first game for the Pies’ new Director of Football Sven Goran Ericksson, should mean that we hardly ever hear about this result again.

Billy Davies himself said that these games were all about fitness rather than results and he’s right. Although it wasn’t the best performance, Davies will no doubt have learned a little more about what he needs to do ahead of the new season in a fortnight’s time. One of those things, will probably be concerns about the defence. From what we hear, those concerns should be addressed, early next week.

So, no need to panic folks, it was only a friendly and the fact that Sven will be plastered all over tomorrows back pages, will probably mean that hardly anyone will have noticed the result.
