Having just missed out on the playoffs last season, and with Martin O’Neill now in charge from the start, Forest and will be hoping that he can carry on his impressive record from last season where he amassed a 42.1% win rate.
So when the fixtures came out, as is tradition amongst the majority of football fans, fans up and down the country starting turning their attention to where they might pick up points and how likely they are to mount a promotion challenge at the end of the season.
However, for Forest fans, they took a slightly different approach. Rather than focus on when they play their neighbours Derby for the Brian Clough Trophy, or who they are playing against on Boxing Day or over Easter, their fans’ eyes were drawn to the start of the season.
Getting a good start to the season is important, it means the manager isn’t immediately under pressure, you can look up towards the top of the table rather than down, and you can start to get a bit of momentum going.
These Forest fans though aren’t exactly too happy with how the fixtures have been drawn up for them, taking to Twitter they expressed their concern over the first couple of games…
Tough start is an understatement ???? #NFFC
