The Orient For Forest- China That Is

Forum member wayno red, revealed on here two months ago that there were plans by the club to tap in to the massive and not to mention lucrative supporter base in China. Today the club has formerly announced plans to do just that in conjunction with the City Council.

According to Nottingham Forest , they along with the East Midlands Development Agency, East Midlands China Bureau (never knew there was such a thing) and the City Council, together they hope to generate more business for the City and the club as well.

Some may scoff at such news, but the game in the Far East is growing at a phenomenal rate. Look at Manchester United, they were quick to see the potential and make millions from there ‘United’ branding. I shouldn’t think for a minute we’ll stand to make anything like that sort of money, especially in our present lowly position. But in years to come it could prove a valuable resource, especially with the chance of maybe getting the odd little nugget player wise.

The club is set to embark on a three game tour next year as part of the new seasons preparations, as well as coaches going over to visit. I still can’t make my mind up if it’s just clever marketing, or if it will benefit us. It certainly can’t do any harm and every penny is welcome, no matter where it comes from.
