It’s Premiership referee Steve Tanner (pictured) from Somerset this week for the Reds, as he returns to the City Ground for the first time since 2005.

Last time he officiated a Forest game was the year we slid into League 1. It was at the Madejski Stadium against Reading, when we lost 1-0 and Tanner controversially sent off keeper Paul Gerrard for supposedly handling outside the box. He got that one wrong, even his linesman said so.

So far this term he’s taken charge of 9 games. In 9 games he’s taken out the yellow card a staggering 30 times, but has so far sent off 0. In his first game of this season he booked 6. Last season in 35 games he booked 93 players and sent 3 off.

He will be ably assisted by linesmen, Mr. A. Halliday and Mr. S. Proctor-Green. The 4th official is Mr. S. Attwell.
