The easiest way to keep things in order is to let the new arrival leave – Opinion

This is something I sort of saw coming, although I didn’t quite expect it to come so soon, or with the two individuals concerned.

After his performance Tuesday night in the victory over Fleetwood Town, there are a number of Forest fans who are clamouring for new signing Brice Samba to be given the number one jersey, starting off this weekend against Birmingham City.

I predicted a couple of weeks ago that problems would arise if Sabri Lamouchi didn’t have everything in order, that fans would start to demand changes in personnel if things started going wrong.

That’s why I think it was a bit ill-advised the way Lamouchi talked about Samba being a signing for ‘the future’, yet still keeping him on the books at the City Ground. If he was convinced that he was going to be the number one after Aro Muric ended his season on loan at Forest, then he should have loaned Samba out to get some experience, then at the same time, Muric wouldn’t have someone constantly breathing down his neck.

To borrow a phrase from American Football, where they would have a ‘Quarterback controversy’, (arising when a team has two capable quarterbacks competing for the starting position), this could lead to a ‘goalkeeper controversy’ at Forest where fans are split between which of the two goalkeepers, Samba & Muric should be starting on a regular basis.

If Forest fans want Samba to get some more game time, then I think he should be given it, but to keep him on the bench at Forest is just a recipe for disaster. That’s why he should be sent out on loan, kept match fit and then be ready to take the number one spot next summer, rather than causing a problem by sitting on the bench.

The international transfer window still has a couple of weeks to run, so it’s not as if there aren’t any possible destinations left for him to go, plus if things do go bad with the likes of Muric like a long term injury, you can always recall Samba, but for the time being it’s probably best if he’s out of sight and as a result, out of mind.
