The 3-2 win over Watford at the weekend has been well received by the fans and manager alike and the feelgood factor surrounding the Reds has returned, just as it looked to have faded away following the defeat at Swansea only 7 days earlier.
It was the first win of the season for Forest and one that will give the players and the fans a sense of confidence for the future. The problems that we’ve endured in recent times haven’t been banished just yet, but signs are that we are seeing the light at the end of a very long and very dark tunnel.
Yesterday’s win over one of the division’s more fancied teams shows that the club has come along way in improving since last season. The game was a thriller from start to finish and although the quality may have been limited at times, the passion and desire on show is something that has been missing from the side for many a year.
Calderwood told the official site. ‘It was a fantastic game, a great advert for English football and we’ve come out of it smiling because we won. It was on a knife edge for a long time, but we put in a performance that gave us a chance of winning the game.’
One of the most pleasing aspects of the game was that all three goals came from the front men, an area that was a previous concern for us all. They were quality strikes too, with each one worthy of winning any game. It’s still very much early days, but the omens are good. It could be down to earth with a bump though, as we entertain Roy Keane’s Black Cats on Wednesday in the 2nd round of the Carling Cup.
