Sky Sports News reported on Saturday that Blackburn Rovers are close to signing Ben Brereton on loan ahead of a permanent £6m move in January.

Football Insider journalist Pete O’Rourke followed that up today by saying the 19-year-old is undergoing a medical with the Lancashire club today after having already “agreed personal terms.”

A lot of fans on Twitter don’t believe it is a good deal for the club:

Others are hoping that there are substantial add-ons included in the deal:

Considering there was talk of the club demanding up to £14m for the teenager only on Friday, the reports that we have agreed to sell for only £6m comes as quite a shock.

We may live to regret this decision in the future if Brereton lives up to his potential. Understandably, the club have to balance the books after the transfer spending this summer, but I don’t know if you can justify selling a promising young striker like our no.17.
