Matty Cash underperformed as Nottingham Forest suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United and supporters weren’t shy letting him know on social media. The 21-year-old has been a regular at the City Ground this season, but his form has waned of late and fans are losing patience.

Against United, Cash played a full 90 minutes and made 45 touches, 18 passes with 61% accuracy, made two successful dribbles, won one aerial duel and drew two fouls. The wide-man failed to create a chance for his teammates, whip in a successful cross or register a shot on target at Bramall Lane.

Forest are barely crawling over the line this season. The Reds have fallen to 13th in the Championship and have been stuck on 57 points for over a month. The playoffs are now out of reach with Martin O’Neill’s men sitting 10 points adrift of the top-six with only nine points available, and performances are reflecting that Forest have little to play for this season.

Cash’s last league goal was against Wigan Athletic on January 26. His only assist of the season came against the same club on August 18. Forest have the option to give reserve players a run-out, but there’s arguably nobody better in the squad for O’Neill to pick.
