Eastwood Town Boss Paul Cox believes Colin Daniel showed just why he has been touted for the top as the talented 18-year old was named as man of the match after an influential performance capped by the Badgers’ third goal in a 3-1 win.

Cox adds that kind of form is typical of the player nicknamed ‘Junior’ and why the likes of Nottingham Forest and other Premiership and League clubs have been monitoring his progress.

‘There is no doubt Junior has a great future in front of him,’ said Cox. ‘He was a different class and yet he was only half fit because of the two games we played at the weekend.

‘He has all the attributes to be a top player and I don’t think it will be long before he is with a League club.

Daniel has a really good attitude towards the game and he works hard and is keen to improve, which is important for someone of his age.

‘Whoever takes him in the end is going to have a cracking player on their hands in a years’ time.’

Daniel- who is on a three-year contract is just one of several players who have the scouts flocking down to Coronation Park as the other include Marc Stevenson and Lindon Meikle who have also been on trial with Forest along with Daniel over the past month.

Out of the three it was Lindon Meikle who has his trial extended as he played in an reserve game and an F.A. Cup youth game but it seems Forest have their eyes on ‘Junior’ but are currently unwilling to offer the amount Eastwood would like for him.

I hope this does not prove to be a bad miss if we do not sign him but I do not like to see Nottingham Forest miss out on young Nottingham player like him and Ben Hutchinson who left Arnold to join Middlesborough.

There are talents in the local Nottingham Non-League area such as Daniel and Lenell John-Lewis of Grantham who should cost the world but might be worth a chance.
