With Nottingham Forest’s Championship survival secured thanks to the final day win over Ipswich the focus shifts to the clubs future, which should see new ownership at the City Ground confirmed shortly.

Mark Warburton has already made it clear Forest can’t find themselves in this position again, something he’ll work tirelessly to ensure isn’t the case. The impending takeover of Evangelos Marinakis should make his job easier in theory, well at least it would be hoped it did.

In the past 24 hours or so current owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has told the BBC a deal is ‘99% complete,’ meaning Olympiakos owner Marinakis will succeed where John Jay Moores failed, the businessman’s led American consortium saw that proposed takeover fall through in January.

Al Hasawi has said Marinakis will meet with the English Football League (EFL) this week as his (Al Hasawi’s) reign, some would say of terror, draws ever closer to an end, then a new chapter will open under the Greeks.

But, not wishing to come across as the harbinger of doom, until it’s 100% done and dusted, with nothing to say it isn’t the case, that 1% margin of error will linger in the mind…
