Nottingham Forest suffered a 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon, but Saidy Janko came away with a lot of credit from supporters for his performance at the City Ground. The 23-year-old kept his place at left-back for the second consecutive game and was singled out by fans on social media.

Janko has only made seven Championship appearances this season since joining Forest on loan from FC Porto. The defender wasn’t in Forest’s starting eleven two weeks ago but has since come in at left-back to due to an injury crisis and hasn’t let Aitor Karanka down.

Against QPR, the Swiss u21 international made 101 touches, completed 91% of his 57 passes, made four interceptions, created four goals, made three tackles, won two aerial duels and made two dribbles. Janko’s unlikely to start at right-back due to Tendayi Darikwa, but he could continue at left-back in the coming weeks.

Forest’s defeat to Rangers in a big blow, however, with the Reds now three points adrift of the Championship playoffs. It’s now three games without a win for Forest so Wednesday’s meeting with Norwich City has extra importance.
