Striker deal still Agogo

Nottingham Forest appear to be closing in on the signature of Bristol Rovers striker Junior Agogo with a player-plus-cash deal, involving either Neil Harris or Spencer Weir-Daley.

The League One outfit have been trying to secure a deal for Agogo, while the player has also served notice to Rovers citing a breach of contract in a bid to be allowed to move to the City Ground.

It is alleged Agogo has a £125,000 release clause in his current deal at the Memorial Stadium and he claims the club are not honouring that by refusing him the chance to join Forest.

As a result Rovers have almost accepted that the player will be moving and the club’s director of football, Lennie Lawrence, was present at Accrington Stanley to watch Forest’s Carling Cup tie on Monday, where it is thought he was watching Harris and Weir-Daley in action.

If Weir-Daley is involved in the move it will only be on a loan basis as he is tipped for a big future in the game by Forest boss Colin Calderwood, but Harris’ move would be permanent.

Rovers coach Paul Trollope admitted: ‘Things are ongoing and it looks like it could happen.

‘But you never know until things are signed and sealed. Hopefully it will be sorted out sooner rather than later.’
