Stats: Leeds 1-1 Forest – Referee Decision Costs Us Three Points

|

Nottingham Forest made the trip to Elland Road for today’s late kickoff in the Championship campaign of 2018/19 to face Marcelo Bielsa’s somewhat surprise package of the season so far given their top of the table form.

Forest gaffer Aitor Karanka has apparently never won a league game at their ground so far in his career so there was more at stake than simply three points for him – but victory would push us into the Play-Off spots given results elsewhere in the division.

We took the lead roughly ten minutes in as Jack Robinson found the back of the net but there’s no point pretending that the hosts didn’t dominate the game as they had 71% of possession and 18 chances at goal in total.

Despite that though, we limited them to only three efforts on target, even if we could only manage three efforts in total.

It wasn’t a great surprise when they levelled late on given those statistics but given the ball came off Kemar Roofe’s arm, as pointed out by the referee’s assistant, there is a disappointment at losing out on all three points with the referee deciding to let it stand.

Maybe replays will temper that frustration and show he made the correct decision, but it’ll still be a bitter pill to swallow.
