Nottingham Forest made the trip to Elland Road for today’s late kickoff in the Championship campaign of 2018/19 to face Marcelo Bielsa’s somewhat surprise package of the season so far given their top of the table form.
Forest gaffer Aitor Karanka has apparently never won a league game at their ground so far in his career so there was more at stake than simply three points for him – but victory would push us into the Play-Off spots given results elsewhere in the division.
We took the lead roughly ten minutes in as Jack Robinson found the back of the net but there’s no point pretending that the hosts didn’t dominate the game as they had 71% of possession and 18 chances at goal in total.
Despite that though, we limited them to only three efforts on target, even if we could only manage three efforts in total.
It wasn’t a great surprise when they levelled late on given those statistics but given the ball came off Kemar Roofe’s arm, as pointed out by the referee’s assistant, there is a disappointment at losing out on all three points with the referee deciding to let it stand.
Maybe replays will temper that frustration and show he made the correct decision, but it’ll still be a bitter pill to swallow.
Handball or not, you had one chance and scored. We battered you, while you time-wasted. Second half was all us. A draw was the least we deserved.
The ref didn’t cost you 3 points, he cost you 2 points, ( maths not your strong point?).
For every 100 decisions that we get cheated in, we get one of these, and boy does everyone make a noise about it!
Leeds have been the most victimised club in the history of the football league, so keep it shut when you can’t take a little sample of what we get against us nearly every week!
What a one sided game!!
Forest now play like Middlesborough!!
Two banks of 4, and the big hoof up the middle.
Leeds lost 2 points when the Brentford lad dived for a penalty.
It all balances out in the end I suppose.
