This game was billed in certain quarters as the invincibles versus the unbeatables, as both the inform teams of the Premier League and Championship squared up to each other for the 3rd round FA Cup tie at the City Ground.

The game lived up to it’s billing, as neither side could break the deadlock and so a replay will be needed at St. Andrews a week on Tuesday. Forest should have sealed it though, but Robert Earnshaw failed to convert a penalty in the second half, that should have taken the Reds’ through to the 4th round.

It was a game Forest could and should have won, after dominating for much of the first half. Blues keeper Joe Hart came to the rescue of the visitors on more than one occasion and showed why he is a candidate for the number one shirt at the World Cup later this year.

Neither side will have wanted a replay, but both will be in the hat for the 4th round draw later today.
