Smith Makes Boro Loan Move

Goalkeeper Paul Smith has today joined Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.

The official site says the move is not part of a swap deal, that saw Boro striker Kris Boyd move to the City Ground today, in a loan deal also until the end of the current campaign.

Smith has been out of favour since the signing of Lee Camp and suffered the indignity of being booed off during a torrid performance in the pre season friendly against Lyon in the summer.

Despite being out of favour at the moment, he has made 120 appearances for us since signing from Southampton in 2006 for £500,000. He won the PUMA Golden Glove award for his 25 clean sheets in the promotion season of 2008 and was an ever present in the side that went up. He goes straight into the Boro squad that plays Derby tonight.
