Well this is a bit of a conundrum isn’t it?

You may remember a couple of weeks ago, I said that it would be better for Brice Samba to leave on loan and allow Aro Muric to continue his development at the City Ground without having the shadow of Samba hovering over him constantly.

Well, it looks as if things have changed somewhat in the goalkeeping department and as a result, so has my view on the matter, although the basic principle is the same.

Even though Sabri Lamouchi has said that Samba is here ‘for the future’, it looks as if that future has come around quicker than most people expected it to. Having been given his league debut against Fulham a few games ago, he has kept hold of the starting goalkeeper’s spot in the games against Derby County and Preston North End, so it looks as if we could be set to have Samba between the sticks for a while now.

If it is indeed the case that Samba has locked down the number one goalkeeper position for the time being, you then have to wonder what is going to happen to Muric? Given the amount of praise he got from Pep Guardiola before he came to the club, you can’t imagine that the Spaniard would be happy for him to spend his season on loan sitting on the subs bench at the City Ground.

So what exactly are we meant to with Muric? It is worth pointing out that the Kosovan wasn’t completely a Lamouchi signing, there were reports of him joining well before the Frenchman was appointed, whereas Samba came in afterwards, well into Lamouchi’s tenure.

At the same time though, Forest could find themselves in a similar situation to Leeds United and facing financial penalties for not giving Muric enough game time. If Lamouchi is so confident in handing over the starting role to Samba so soon, is it best if we cut ties with Muric? Free up another loan slot and use it on another part of the squad?

What do you think? Is this Samba move just a temporary thing? Or do you think that Muric had his chance and blown it?
