I’d like to say we’re operating this like a nightclub, with a ‘one out, one in’ policy.

And one Nottingham Forest player might have to wait a whole for another space to become available before he can come back. At least that is what journalist Alan Nixon seemed to be implying on social media the others day.

Speaking in the aftermath of Jack Colback signing a permanent deal for us, Nixon was asked on social media about what that would do to the prospect of keeping 35-year-old Ben Watson at the City Ground, and he didn’t sound all too positive.

Does Ben Watson deserve a new contract with Forest?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Out of contract and reportedly being monitored by Queens Park Rangers to sign a two-year deal for them, the signing of Colback makes the competition for places all the fiercer at the City Ground, the signs don’t look good for a man who played 97% of our minutes in the league last campaign.

What about you? Do you think that Colback’s signing means that there’s no future for Watson? Or do you think it’s possible for both of them to keep a spot in the squad?
