The final league game of the season takes place this Sunday with when Forest head in to sunny Scunthorpe hoping to bring an end to the away day woes ahead of the Championship play off semi final which starts next Sunday. Scunthorpe have secured their Championship status for next season & like so many teams have nothing to play for but will be wanting to send their fans into the closed season with a smile on their face in their final home game.

Scunthorpe United Team News:

Former Forest target Rob Jones may miss out with a calf injury, Marcus Williams is out with a hamstring strain & David Mirfin has a groin problem which he picked up in their last game against Doncaster.

Player to watch: Gary Hooper

The striker is one of the Championships leading strikers with 19 goals this season from 30 starts (with a further 4 substitute appearances) and has also cheated a further 5 goals for his team mates.

Nottingham Forest Team News:

Forest have no fresh problems with just Paul McKenna & Julian Bennett missing through their long standing injuries.

Player to watch: Radoslaw Majewski

The Polish midfielder has 3 goals from his 34 games this season but has created 9 goals for his team mates including a wonderful through ball for Robert Earnshaw in his last game when he looked to be back to his best.

Match Facts & Stats

There have been only 5 previous league meetings between these two teams with Forest having just the one victory picked up earlier this season, Scunthorpe have won 3 & the other a draw. It’s no surprise then that Scunthorpe more than double the amount of goals scored in previous fixtures with 9 compared to just 4 for Forest.

Scunthorpe have proved to be one of the most entertaining teams in the Championship this season, they have not been involved in a single goalless draw in their previous 45 games & those games have seen a total of 142 goals (by far the highest goals to games ratio in the league, the average is just over 100) meaning their games average 3 goals per game.

They’re not all goals conceded either, Scunny have scored 38 league goals at home this season which can’t be matched by any team outside the top six but they have conceded 30 at home and only bottom club Peterborough have a worse home defence.

Ref Watch:

Fred Graham of Essex will take charge of this game

Mr Graham will be assisted by Dean Mohareb & Paul Norris (both from Cheshire)

Forth official for the day will be Michael Denton of Lancashire

Match Prediction:

The total goal over the last three games these two teams have played equals 24 so on average on current form this game should have at least 4 goals, as it’s an end of season show though I’ve gone for an all entertaining 4 – 4 draw.
