Mark Robins felt his side deserved to win at the City Ground, but admitted a draw leaves them with a mountain to climb in their relegation battle.

The Rotherham manager knows games are running out for his side, despite their late-season flurry of form.

‘We deserved to win overall, I think we did enough,’ he said. ‘They threw a lot at us in the second half, which we knew would happen. But we did enough to win it.

‘We are more under pressure now, with the games running out. We are delighted with the point, or at least we would be in normal circumstances.

‘We knew that the crowd would have a big bearing on things and our players would enjoy it because they don’t get to play at a place like this very often.

‘But we also knew they would come out and have a right good go at us. But we were the better side in the first half and I thought there would only be one winner.

‘It is a good haul of points, but we are running out of games. We needed a win.’ Robins was full of praise for Nottingham-born former Notts striker Chris O’Grady, who fired his side ahead with a spectacular 20-yard strike.

‘Chris scored an outstanding goal, but we also saw the other side of him where he lacked a little concentration and failed to hit the target with a good chance,’ he said.

‘I thought Chris did very well and normally I would not want to single anyone out.

‘For our part I thought we were excellent. Our use of the ball was good.’
