Cardiff City manager Neil Harris has taken a parting shot at Nottingham Forest, after their collapse against Stoke cost them a place in the Championship play-off places.

Forest’s 4-1 defeat at home to Stoke, coupled with Swansea’s win over Reading by the same scoreline, means that Sabri Lamouchi’s side missed out on a top-six spot in spectacular fashion on the final day of the regular season.

Now it seems as though Harris has taken some element of satisfaction from that, following Forest’s refusal to extend Albert Adomah’s loan deal at Cardiff beyond the end of June, despite the rescheduling of the season.

Speaking about Forest after his side had secured fifth-place in the Championship with a 3-0 win over League One-bound Hull, Harris told Wales Online: “Sabri Lamouchi [Forest manager] was manager of the year in the Championship four weeks ago and finished seventh.

“They stopped us taking Albert Adomah to take an advantage over us.”

Despite that, Harris was keen not to rub salt into the Forest wounds too much, as he added: “I don’t think it’s come back to bite them, I only brought it up because I thought it was right to mention it, on Forest as a whole.

“I saw most of you [the media] smirking when I said it, so I’ll leave it to you to write about it. It upset me because I thought it was wrong, that’s all.”

Adomah made nine league appearances in all for Cardiff following his temporary move to Wales in the January transfer window, while EFL regulations have prevented him from featuring for Forest since his return to the City Ground at the end of last month.

This does seem to be a strange thing for Harris to be focusing when his side have just secured their own place in the play-offs for this season, which does at least suggest they managed fine without Adomah.

Even so, you can understand Harris’ frustrations with regards to the winger’s recall by Forest, given plenty of other clubs have allowed their loan players to stay with their temporary clubs all the way through to the end of the season.
