According to Joe Bernstein of the Daily Mail, Rotherham United and Oxford United have ‘expressed interest’ in Gboly Ariyibi. The 24-year-old has an uncertain future at Nottingham Forest after failing to make a first-team appearance in his two-and-a-half years at the City Ground while also being left out of the Reds’ pre-season squads.

Ariyibi looked set to join Motherwell on a permanent deal before making a U-turn on the decision and could now be on his way to League One. The Daily Mail’s report doesn’t state if any bids have been lodged for the Forest outcast, however, so time will tell if Rotherham and Oxford are serious about signing him.

The wide-man is expected to be offloaded as he’s spent more time out on loan than in the East Midlands. The USA u23 international has had stints at MK Dons (July 17, 2017 – January 17, 2018), Northampton Town (January 19, 2018 – April 6, 2018) and Motherwell (January 7, 2019 – May 20, 2019), and finds himself behind Joe Lolley, Albert Adomah & Sammy Ameobi in the pecking order in the Forest first-team.

The 24-year-old has a market value of £450k, so it may not take a large bid for the Reds to offload him.
