Report: Striker ‘set to leave’ Nottingham Forest on loan, shock decision from Sabri Lamouchi

|

According to Paul Taylor of Nottinghamshire Live, Tyler Walker is nearing a season-long loan move away from Nottingham Forest. The 22-year-old looked nailed on to be in the Reds’ first-team this season, but he’s now nearing a temporary switch to Lincoln City.

Walker will link up with former Forest teammate Jorge Grant after turning down the chance to join Coventry City, but his departure will shock many fans. The centre-forward scored 26 goals on loan at Mansfield Town last season and heavily featured for Forest during pre-season, suggesting he’d have a part to play in 2019/20.

That no longer appears to be the case, however, and now Forest will have to move fast to bring in another striker before the transfer window shuts. As things stand, Lamouchi will be left with Lewis Grabban, Sammy Ameobi and Rafa Mir while Daryl Murphy, Jason Cummings and Zach Clough have been told they can leave this summer.

Martin O’Neill monitored Walker’s progress last season and appeared keen to have him in his squad in 2019/20 before his sacking, but Lamouchi clearly hasn’t been too impressed with what he’s seen from the striker since his arrival. Perhaps he wasn’t convinced that scoring goals in League Two would guarantee him being a success in the Championship.
