According to James Masson of the Evening Telegraph, St Johnstone are closing in on Jason Cummings. The 23-year-old is surplus to requirements at Nottingham Forest and was told by Sabri Lamouchi that he needed to find a new club. Cummings is reportedly in talks with at McDiarmid Park over a season-long loan deal which would spell the end of his Forest career.

The Scotland international is out of contract in 2020 and would be released by the Reds after his loan spell ends next year. Cummings has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Forest, scoring just four goals. He joined the East Midlands outfit from Hibernian in 2017 and struggled for form & playing time which led to loan moves away.

Cuimmings has played for Rangers (January 15, 2018 – May 14, 2018), Peterborough United (July 13, 2018 – January 30, 2019) and Luton Town (January 31, 2019 – May 31, 2019), scoring nine league goals in 39 games for all three clubs – two Premiership goals in 15 games for Rangers, six in 22 League One outings for Peterborough and one in five League One games for Luton.

It’s easy to see why Forest are keen to part company with Cummings, but his potential loan move will mean they’ll miss out on a transfer fee.
