Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi has spent the last few days in Athens for talks with the club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis, a report from Greek outlet Sportime, via Nottinghamshire Live has revealed.

Lamouchi’s first season in charge at The City Ground ended in almost catastrophic circumstances, as a run of six games without a win to end the campaign – culminating in a 4-1 thrashing at home to Stoke – saw the club somehow throw away a seemingly secure play-off place.

Now it seems as though the post mortem into the end of the campaign is yet to conclude, with the latest report claiming that Lamouchi and the club’s head of international recruitment Jose Anigo are both currently in Greece for talks with Marinakis.

As well as discussing the reasons behind the collapse at the end of the campaign, it is also thought that issues around the futures of the club’s key players, and potential targets for the summer transfer window.

That is something that further strengthens the suggestion that Lamouchi will be in the dugout at The City Ground next season, something which the report claims could be down to the good relationship between Marinakis and Lamouchi’s agent, Jorge Mendes.

Should Lamouchi be at Forest next season?

Yes

Yes

No

Whatever the reasons, it does seem to be a sensible decision for Forest to stick with Lamouchi for next season.

With such a short turnaround to the new campaign, it would be hard for Forest to find a new manager and then put together a the sort of squad he wants in time for the new season in just a few weeks time.

Keeping Lamouchi therefore at least gives the club an element of stability, although given the issue of the end to last season is still being addressed, you feel promotion is the only option for the Frenchman next season if he is to still be at The City Ground this time next season.
