Report: Nottingham Forest told to pay £4m to sign English forward

|

According to Simon Jones of Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest have been told by Bolton Wanderers that they will have to pay £4m to sign Sammy Ameobi before the January transfer window shuts. The 26-year-old has scored and created seven goals in 17 Championship games this season and might not be retained by Bolton as they’re suffering financially.

Wanderers are looking to cash in on their players of value and Ameobi will be out of contract in 18 months, so the club are keen to get the maximum for the Englishman. Ameobi has led a nomadic career, playing for the likes of Newcastle United, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City before his 2017-move to the Macron Stadium -he’s gone on to score and create 18 goals in 78 games.

Bolton are currently 23rd in the Championship table with 23 points from 29 games this season. They’re in danger of the drop and are cash-strapped and unable to recruit the talent to get themselves out of trouble. Selling Ameobi will further hamper their chances of survival, but their need for money supersedes the need to build a strong squad.

Whether Forest will pay £4m, however, remains to be seen.
