According to Scott Burns of the Daily Record, Nottingham Forest are interested in Benjamin Siegrist and could battle Crystal Palace and Hull City for his signature. The 27-year-old has 12 months remaining on his deal at Dundee United, but the increased interest in his signature could lead to a move away from Tannadice Park this summer.
Siegrist joined United on a free transfer from FC Vaduz last summer and has made 38 appearances in all competitions, conceding 30 goals and keeping 15 clean sheets. The Swiss u21 international has led a nomadic career, playing for FC Basel, Aston Villa, Burton Albion (loan), Cambridge United (loan), Solihull Moors (loan) and Wycombe Wanderers (loan), and could be on his way back to England.
Despite having Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele and Jordan Smith as options between the sticks, Martin O’Neill continues to be linked with shot-stoppers, having been interested in Bournemouth’s Asmir Begovic days previously, but it’s unknown which existing Forest player would leave if a goalkeeper is brought in.
Dundee United are desperate to keep Siegrist after an impressive debut season, but their failure to seal promotion to the Scottish Premiership could lead him to seek a new challenge. Whether he choose Forest out of all the suitors remains to be seen, however.
