Report: Nottingham Forest linked with highly-rated forward, out of contract this summer

|

According to the Scottish Sun, Nottingham Forest are one of many clubs interested in Lawrence Shankland. The 23-year-old has been in fine form for Ayr United, scoring 30 goals in as many games this season, and finds himself the subject of interest as a result.

Shankland is out of contract at Somerset Park this summer so his future is uncertain. It’s hard to see him staying at Ayr given all the clubs keen on procuring his signature – Hull City, Sunderland, Swansea City – and even manager Ian McCall is under no illusions about keeping the striker.

He played down any hope of Shankland staying past the summer, which is music to the ears of suitors. The Scotland u21 international has scored 20 goals in the Scottish Championship this season and his contributions have Ayr currently sitting second in the table after 24 games.

The in-form striker has bagged a total of 57 goals in 62 games for United since joining the club on a free transfer in September 2017. He’s also played for Queen’s Park, Aberdeen, Dunfermline, St Mirren and Morton, but his time in Scotland could be up this summer.
