Report: Nottingham Forest in talks with highly-rated youngster over a new contract

According to The Athletic (h/t Nottinghamshire Live), Nottingham Forest are in talks with Alex Mighten over a new contract. The 17-year-old has impressed for Forest u23s & England u18s this season and was rewarded with his first-team debut in the EFL Cup against Arsenal last month.

He’s featured in Forest’s 3-1 win at Bristol City (August 14), scored in their 3-1 win at home to Queens Park Rangers (August 20), featured in their 2-0 defeat at Millwall (August 26), 4-1 win at home to Cardiff City (August 30), scored in their 5-1 win at home to Barnsley (September 27) and could start against Sheffield United u23s this evening.

For England, the highly-rated forward netted a hattrick against Australia u17s (September 6) on his debut for the u18s which certainly helped to put himself on the map. Mighten is another product of the Nigel Doughty Academy with a bright future.

The youngster, who signed a two-year scholarship in May, has been making great progress at Forest and will be rewarded with a first professional contract as a result. Sabri Lamouchi may give him more opportunities to feature over the course of the season if he continues to shine for club & country too.
