Nottingham Forest could be forced to sell defensive duo Matty Cash and Joe Worrall if we don’t manage to achieve promotion this season.

The Reds are right in the mix to move up to the Premier League this season as we sit fifth in the standings, 10 points behind West Bromwich Albion and five points ahead of Bristol City who sit just outside the Play-off places.

We are set to finish as high as we have done in the table since the 2009/10 campaign when we finished third but unfortunately fell to Blackpool who went on to reach the promised land of England’s top tier.

According to Football Insider, a combination of missing out on promotions and financial difficulties due to football being suspended would mean that we would have to sell two of our prized assets in Cash and Worrall.

Will Matty Cash and Joe Worrall leave the club in the summer?

No

Forest previously rejected a £12m bid from West Ham United back in January and admitted that his agent had talks with AC Milan regarding a move.

Worrall has been attracting the interest of the big clubs since he was 20 years old. He recently signed a two-year extension to his contract in February, which will tie him down at the City Ground until 2024. Like most clubs in the top two tiers, essential income will be lacking and we will be facing a significant deficit.

The other scenario is that West Ham are relegated from the Premier League, which could mean that Cash could stay with us if we achieve promotion.

It remains to be seen about Worrall who has been on the shortlist of many clubs, let’s hope they both stay with us for next season.
