According to Paul Taylor of Nottinghamshire Live, Nottingham Forest are ‘closing in’ on a season-long loan move for Rafa Mir. The 22-year-old could ‘undergo a medical in the next 24 hours’ and would be Forest’s seventh signing of the summer after Sammy Ameobi, Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo, Yuri Ribeiro, Albert Adomah and Aro Muric.
Mir has spent 18 months at Wolverhampton Wanderers since joining from Valencia, making only four appearances in all competitions. He spent last season on loan at UD Las Palmas, contributing eight goals in 30 games. Forest need another centre-forward after offloading Apostolos Vellios, Karim Ansarifard and Hillal Soudani. Daryl Murphy could be on his way out too.
Sabri Lamouchi has Lewis Grabban, Tyler Walker and Sammy Ameobi at his disposal but clearly feels he needs more firepower ahead of the new campaign. Mir wasn’t at his best in La Liga 2 last season, but he’s caught the eye of the Forest manager and is still only a young player developing his talent.
The Spanish u21 international scored and created nine goals in seven games for Valencia’s u19s and 25 goals in 59 games for the reserves. Forest could certainly do a lot worse.
