Former Nottingham Forest striker Rafa Mir has admitted that he is not satisfied with the situation he is in at his new club.

The 22-year-old spent the first half of this season on loan at the City Ground from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers and struggled to make an impact with the Reds. Manager Sabri Lamouchi did not start him in any of the 11 games that he featured in, scoring no goals and conjuring up just one assist against Leeds United at Elland Road at the start of the season.

After returning to Wolves, Mir was then loaned out to Spanish outfit SD Huesca in January, who play in La Liga 2 and has only scored twice from two starts.

Speaking with AS, Mir admitted that he is uncomfortable being on the bench and would much rather be starting games.

“I am comfortable playing, where I am not at ease is on the bench”, he said. “I am working calmly, I am happy. It is true that in the last two games I have not started. It is a decision that depends on Míchel (Sanchez – Huesca head coach). I’ve been talking to him. When I have the opportunity I will try to do my best. It is not my moment, it is the moment of the team.”

Mir was recently sent off against Girona at the start of last month, which has found them lingering among the substitutes and the Spain U21 international is having a similar experience in his homeland as he did in Nottingham.

While he may not be good enough to play at Championship level, it is important to recognise that he has been picked to play for his country for a reason. At the tender age of 22, he still has a long career ahead of him and plenty of time to mature as a player.

Would you be willing to have him back at some point in the future once he develops a little bit more?
