Nottingham Forest are set to be handed an early transfer blow with the news that Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox is headed for Stoke City, a report from TeamTalk has claimed.

Fox’s contract with The Owls is up at the end of this season, with the left-back having made 103 appearances in all competitions for the Owls since joining from Charlton back in 2017.

Now it seems as though the 26-year-old’s next career move is one that could prove to be a source of disappointment for Forest.

According to the latest reports, Fox has decided to join Stoke following the end of his contract at Hillsborough, despite interest from Forest, and fellow Championship sides Middlesbrough, Barnsley and newly-promoted Coventry, making this something of a blow for Lamouchi’s transfer plans.

Indeed, Fox has been impressive for Wednesday this season in particular, meaning he could have been a useful addition for Lamouchi’s side as they look to recover from the disappointment of the campaign just ended.

It also could mean that Stoke, a side who have unexpectedly struggled at the wrong end of the table in recent seasons, now move closer to becoming another play-off contender for Forest to cope with in the battle for a play-off place.

It could be noted however, that some might point out that Forest already know all about the danger the Potters can pose, following the events of last week that ultimately cost Lamouchi’s men that play-off spot, something which could further add insult to injury here.
