Nottingham Forest are interested in signing defender Kevin Danso from Augsburg, a report from German outlet HSV has claimed.

Danso has just spent this season on loan in the Premier League with Southampton, where he made ten appearances in all competitions for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, and it now seems as though an extended return to England could be on cards.

According to the latest reports, Forest are interested in a possible move for Danso – who has already been capped six times by Austria at senior international level – as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of a possible push for promotion next season.

As well as Forest, Watford and Fortuna Dusseldorf, who were relegated from the Premier League and Bundesliga respectively this season, are both also credited with an interest in the 21-year-old.

It is thought that it could cost around €6.3million to secure the services of Danso, who has four years remaining on his contract with Augsburg, securing his future with the club until the end of the 2023/24 season, and putting them in a strong position to negotiate any offer that might arise.

This could be a useful signing for Forest.

They will of course be desperate to win promotion to the Premier League this season, and Danso’s top-flight experience both with Augsburg and Southampton, could be useful in helping them do that.

However, at 21-year-old, he is still at a relatively early stage in his career, so it may be a risk to rely on him too much, and you that with several areas of the requiring reinforcements, it will take more than this deal alone to turn the game in Forest’s favour in the battle for promotion.
