Olympiacos are keen to sign Nottingham Forest linked goalkeeper Danijel Subasic, a report from Nottinghamshire Live has revealed.

Subasic is currently on the lookout for a new club after leaving Monaco at the end of last season, having made almost 300 appearances in all competitions for the French club.

According to Nottinghamshire Live, Forest have recently been linked with the 35-year-old as they look for a new alternative to current number one Brice Samba.

However, it seems they are not the only ones interested in the former Croatia international, with Nottinghamshire Live now citing reports in Greece that state Olympiacos – who like Forest are owned by Evangelos Marinakis – are also keen to sign Subasic.

It is thought that Olympiacos are keen to sign Subasic in case their current first-choice ‘keeper, Jose Sa, leaves the club, and the Greek giants have reportedly offered Subasic a two-year contract.

Would Subasic be a good signing for Forest?

How this plays out from now will certainly be interesting.

Subasic would be a more than reliable backup for Samba if Forest were able to bring him to the City Ground, although you wonder if they will be able to do that now.

If Sa leaves Olympiacos, then the prospect of first-team football in Greece could be more appealing for Subasic, particularly given that with the club having lifted the Greek title this season, it is a move that could give him the opportunity both to compete for silverware, and play in the Champions League one last time as he approaches what looks likely to be the latter stages of his career.
