Nottingham Forest could miss out on Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox as his club are reportedly keen to extend his contract, according to reports.

The 26-year-old left-back is attracting interest from various Championship clubs and the Reds are one of those sides that have been monitoring his progress closely.

The former Wales U21 international’s contract expires at Hillsborough at the end of the season and could be allowed to move to Nottingham in the summer if a deal is not agreed with the South Yorkshire-based outfit.

According to YorkshireLive, the Owls are desperate to tie him down to a new deal as he has been an essential player in Garry Monk’s side during the current campaign.

Fox has scored three goals and provided one assist from 31 games this season and has made six appearances at U21 level for Wales since his debut in 2013.

However, his contract situation could prove to be a conundrum due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has halted all football across all of England’s top leagues.

This has further led to Prime Minister Boris Johnson putting us on a national lockdown and temporarily banning mass gatherings to prevent the spread of the illness.

We currently have Yuri Riberio and Gaeton Bong as our choices at left-back. But with the latter at the age of 31 and with just one league appearance to his name this season, it makes sense as to why we would be targeting Fox.

With us performing so well this season, we can hopefully come across as an attractive proposition to the Welshman. But with COVID-19, it could take several months to sort out with other obvious priorities to deal with.
