The club are reportedly keen to sign a replacement for Ben Brereton before the loan window closes this evening. One of the names that has been linked with a switch to the City Ground is Tammy Abraham.

The Sun believe that Aston Villa are leading the race for the 20-year-old, but Goal.com France indicate that Bordeaux could also be in for the striker.

When asked about our own interest in Abraham in a webchat today, Nottingham Post journalist Paul Taylor says we remain keen on the player although the likelihood is he will stay at Stamford Bridge:

“Forest were/are interested in him. There were a few Championship clubs sniffing around him, including Forest and Aston Villa. And Chelsea were willing to let him go out on loan, if that is what the player himself wanted to do.”

“But they gave him the option of sticking around to fight for his place. And, while there is always the chance of a late change of heart, that is what the player himself has so far indicated he would prefer to do.”

“Think Steve Bruce has actually just confirmed Villa’s interest in him this morning. He would be a heck of a signing. Has a proven track record at this level. A young man with tremendous quality.”

Out of the names that we have been linked with such as Jermain Defoe, Rudy Gestede and Cameron Jerome, the Chelsea forward would be my favoured target but he is also the hardest to get.

Proven at Championship level, he would be a great signing, as Taylor says. With the deadline fast approaching, we won’t have to wait too long to find out where he’ll end up.
