The Reds’ haven’t found the back of the net in any of their last three games, which makes a goal today about as likely as Ben Watson showing a bit of loyalty and respect to the club that pays his wages. Yes, I am bitter and twisted that he never signed on the dotted line for us, but the soon to be Ranger has done himself no favours on Trentside, after turning down a deal here when the clubs’ had all but agreed back in August.
For Calderwood and his charges, the only way is up. We’re firmly rooted to the bottom of the table and anything less than three points at home today will see the City Ground faithful turn against the gaffer and make life for him a tad difficult to say the least. As well as welcoming Mr. Watson to the CG, it will be a pleasure to welcome the one and only Neil Warnock. You either love him or hate him. Personally, I hate him, but you can’t deny that his managerial prowess stands up to scrutiny and he’s had a fair bit of success in his time, both with the Blunts and our dear friends and neighbours at Notts County.
Unlike us, Palace are showing signs of moving up the table. They had a decent win over their rivals Charlton in midweek and managed a draw at Ipswich last Saturday. They lie in 20th position and are 5 points ahead of the Reds’. Former Forest target Neil Danns could also make an appearance for this one, he’s turned down the chance to sign for us more times than any player in history. The transfer window just doesn’t seem the same, without the obligatory link to Danns.

Stand up and deliver Mr Cole! It’s time for him to put his money where his mouth is and start doing what he’s paid for. A goal would be very welcome today.

Danns played for the Palace stiffs in midweek and could be in line for a start following injury. Strikers Alan Lee, James Scowcroft (both hamstring) are out. As is Calvin Andrew (knee).

Ben Watson is one of the finest and most creative midfielders in the division. On his day, he can single handedly turn a game and is more than capable of hurting us and our fragile defence.
