It was a good night for Nottingham Forest and we didn’t even kick a ball. Four out of the top six sides in the table were pitted against each other and if results went the wrong way, the Reds could have been down to 5th.

As it was, Swansea were the only team to win, as they battered Doncaster 4-0 at The Keepmoat. The win now sees them with an 11 point lead over us in 2nd. It might still be January, but it’s beginning to look like the title is theirs’ to lose. The match against the Swans on Tuesday at the City Ground is massive now and we need a result if we have any hopes of catching them.

Carlisle in third went down 1-0 to struggling Cheltenham thanks to Stephen Gillespie’s 9th goal of the campaign. We stay ahead of the Cumbrians on goal difference. Oh, yes and Scott Dobie came on as a 56th min substitute and guess what? He failed to score.

The Cobblers also did us a favour and pulled a rabbit out of the hat with a 2-0 win over Orient. All in all, a good night for the Reds. If only Luton can pull off a result at home to Lucky Leeds on Saturday, then we will have had a good weekend and the midweek disappointment at The New Den will have been softened. Worse case scenario is we drop to 3rd, but I’m much happier seeing the Lucky Boys behind us, rather than in front. Come on you Hatters!
