Reds Look To Strengthen After Arthur Brokers Peace

Nottingham Forest Chief Executive Officer Mark Arthur, is the man to thank for negotiating the peace and securing the immediate future of Forest manager Billy Davies. The problems between Davies and the board have been well documented in recent months, but those differences are now firmly in the past and the future once again looks bright for NFFC.

The much publicised and talked about meeting between the manager and Chairman in London yesterday, went as well as every Forest fan hoped it would. Davies got the assurances he needed in that he would have more of a say in transfer dealings and the Chairman got his assurance that Davies would be a little more considered in his outbursts to the press. The results of the talks, now means that Billy Davies and Mark Arthur will be the ones’ with the final say on who comes and goes at the club.

Now those differences have been sorted, the club now plan on building a side capable of winning promotion next season. Swansea midfielder Darren Pratley and Chelsea defender Patrick Van Aanholt are known to be heading the list of targets, but that will be only part of the strengthening this summer.

Forest look like securing the services of George Boyd from Peterborough on a permanent deal, as well as Darren Ambrose at Crystal Palace. QPR are pursuing Ambrose, but Forest are keen to land the player they failed to sign in January.

As expected, there will be a few departures from the club, with McCleary, Tyson, Adebola and Smith, being told they are free to look elsewhere. Kelvin Wilson, who has been widely tipped with a move to SPL giants Celtic, may well be staying at the club. Many fans believed that Garner and McGugan could be shown the City Ground exit door, but both have now been told they have a future at the club.

The club is also scouring Europe for talent, with two defenders said to top the list of possible European targets. Fans can look forward to the club acting a little swifter in the transfer market, now that alterations have been made. If Forest land their chosen targets over the summer, then it will send out a message to the rest of the Championship, that next season the club might be ready to push for the Premiership afterall.
