Yuri Ribeiro had impressed for Nottingham Forest since joining from Benfica over the summer, but the 22-year-old delivered one of his worst performances for the Reds on Sunday. Ribeiro struggled on the wing as Forest lost 1-0 at Wigan Athletic and came in for criticism on social media.
Against the Latics, the wide-man played a full 90 minutes, made 44 touches, won one aerial duel, failed to register a shot on target, completed 73.1% of his 26 passes, whipped in two crosses with 50% accuracy, made one clearance, completed one dribble and picked up a booking.
Mir and Robinson have been really poor #NFFC

Bostock, Ribeiro and Ameobi have all been poor. Would be bringing Adomah, Grabban and Carvalho on …. #nffc

Worst I've seen Ribeiro play. Underhit every pass he's played #nffc

Team selection wrong today, Silva & Grabban got to be starting, Ribeiro isn’t a winger, still 4th in the league after 1/4 of the season, win the two home games next week! ????⚪️ #NFFC pic.twitter.com/BH58fGpVZZ

Think Lamouchi got the tactics wrong today. Let's see if he admits it. Plus too many substandard performances from Ribeiro, Worrall, Bostock and Mir #NFFC

Ribeiro has made eight appearances in all competitions this season but has yet to score a goal or make an assist in 690 minutes of football. The Portuguese u21 international has operated at left-back and left-wing, but Sabri Lamouchi might reconsider playing him in an advanced role after Sunday.
The Forest manager isn’t short of options on the wing – Joao Carvalho (seven appearances, one goal), Albert Adomah (11 appearances, two goals, one assist), Joe Lolley (11 appearances, three goals, one assist) – but consistency has been an issue.
Forest ended the weeked fourth in the Championship and saw their 10-game unbeaten run ended. They next face Hull City on October 23.
