Preston North End chairman Maurice Lindsay has denied making any attempt to sign Forest captain Paul McKenna.
McKenna was signed from Preston in 2009, for a fee of £750,000 and still has a year left on his contract at Forest.
Lindsay told Sky Sports News. ‘We haven’t made an enquiry about Paul McKenna. I was with the Forest chief executive at the FA’s AGM last week and we chatted about a number of things. Paul McKenna was mentioned just because he used to play here, but there was nothing more to it so I was quite puzzled when I saw we were being linked with him.’
However, earlier this week the NEP said that McKenna was a target of the club and that he could be used as part of a swap deal to bring winger Keith Treacy to the City Ground.
