Pressure Cooker!

Colin Calderwood today said he thrives on pressure – and will relish the remaining games, whether Forest secure promotion this weekend or if they end up in the play-offs.

The Forest manager faces the biggest match of his City Ground career when the Reds meet Crewe at home in the final League One game of the season on Saturday.

And there could be an even bigger challenge ahead if Forest do end up fighting for promotion in the play-offs.

But Calderwood says it is a situation managers should enjoy being in.

‘It is something I do look forward to, it is fantastic,’ he said. ‘If you don’t enjoy the final weekend, in the situation we are in, and enjoy the pressure and expectation and the elation that could come with that, then it is not worth being in the job.

‘You work all summer, through the season and grind and grind and grind, to get the opportunity to produce a happy ending and we still have that opportunity.

‘We can still win promotion this weekend.’

Calderwood says that, if told at the start of the campaign that Forest would be third going into the game of the season, he would not have been satisfied.

But he says the way in which they have closed the gap on Bristol City, to get them back into touching distance, has left them in positive mood.

‘I would have looked a wee bit beyond that, to be honest,’ said Calderwood. ‘But from where we were and the way we have come back, we do feel more positive about it now than had you offered me that in August.’
