Power impressed last season in the reserves and was tipped by many to be the latest recruit to come off the academy production line.

Although he made the bench on several occasions last season, he never made an appearance for the first team. All that is set to change tonight though, as he gets his big chance in the Johnstones Paint Trophy against Peterborough.

Colin Calderwood told the official site . ‘I think he was a bit disappointed not to get a game against Chester in the Carling Cup, but I knew his chance would come. He’s now got that opportunity and although we will be fielding an experienced side, games like these give us the chance to blood a youngster or two.’

Born in Dublin, Power is 19 years old and has come through the ranks at Forest. He gets his chance at the big time partly because Sammy Clingan is on international duty with Northern Ireland. Calderwood also hinted that one or two more of the youngsters could make the bench in the first round tie.
