Sky Sports News are reporting that we are close to finalising a move for Lewis Grabban. The fee is believed to be in the region of £5m for the 30-year-old.

Despite a late attempt from Birmingham City to snap up the Bournemouth striker, it seems the player is destined for a move to the City Ground, barring any last minute hiccups.

To gauge the feeling among the fanbase, I set up a poll to see how many fans were backing the Grabban deal. As you can see, the vast majority want the transfer to be finalised:

At 30 years of age, the £5m fee for the former Norwich forward could be seen as a pretty expensive deal, but it is essential for the club to find a prolific goalscorer, following the travails of last season.

Grabban scored 20 goals in the Championship last campaign; the majority of which came for a struggling Sunderland side. He may not be getting any younger, but he would be a good fit for Aitor Karanka’s system.

Are you behind the deal like most fans seem to be? Let me know.
