Sad news from NFFC today, as the departure of reserve team coach John Pemberton is officially announced.

Pemberton has been one of few very good things to happen at the club since arriving 13 years ago. The official line from the club, is that his contract was terminated by mutual consent. Manager Billy Davies said he would be making sweeping changes to every aspect of the club, which is no bad thing considering our remarkable fall from grace over the past ten years, but Pemberton was one of the success stories.

In his last two seasons as reserve team coach, he guided the reserves to the Pontins League title and finished runners up last year. He’s also credited with helping the careers of first team players Perch, Morgan and McGugan.

There was no news on the future of the reserve team, but the word is that this is to be disbanded by Davies, in favour of hand picked games against what he hopes will be sterner opposition. Also departing with Pemberton, will be fitness coach Ryland Morgans. I think all Forest fans will wish them both well, especially Pembo.
