As fans will now, Jamie Paterson made the move to Bristol City last Saturday, and unfortunately Oliver Burke also departed for Red Bull Leipzig on Sunday.

It was shaping up to be a good weekend with the three one victory over Leeds United but Burke’s departure took the shine of that for a lot of people.

Beginning with Paterson, with some confusion over why he didn’t make the permanent move to Huddersfield Town given they wanted him and the clause was in place, his long term future at the City Ground was obviously in doubt, and the midfielder left on Saturday for Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.

He signs a three year deal with them, having joined us from Walsall back in 2013, and he leaves with a total of 69 appearances to his name, with a return of 14 goals.

His last appearance being the League Cup victory over Millwall on August 31, which also saw his last goal.

The biggest disappointment came on Sunday when the club announced that talented 19 year old Burke had completed a move to German side Red Bull Leipzig for an undisclosed fee as well, as with six goals in 31 appearances after coming through our Academy set up – including his brace against Wigan recently – his impressive performances this season had really given some home grown hope for the future.

Plenty of clubs were circling though and rumours were only growing, so if there’s a minor consolation – at least he hasn’t gone to a rival.

He leaves having made seven appearances this season, scoring four times, and his last appearance and goal came at the weekend.

It’s said Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were in for him this window, and the media say it was a £13million deal with RB Leipzig and it apparently makes him Scotland’s record transfer fee.
